Art, Spirituality and Healing
“Art has the capacity to touch the human spirit, awaken conditions for genuine healing and enrich people’s lives with tremendous joy.” From “Stone Voices”
What do art, spirituality and healing have in common? Creative power. Light and information. Beauty. Magic and wonder. Impact and effect. Effect on our life force. Connection of our physical perceptions to thoughts and emotions and our spiritual source. Devine connection and reconnection. Love.
Art takes human creative skill, imagination and inspiration and is appreciated for its beauty, message, emotional power. And both beauty and love are powerful aspects of the Devine that soothe a ruffled soul.
Art can can bridge the gap between the known and unknown, reintroduce a childlike curiosity and innocence, transcend censorship and limitations of the mind, culture, past experiences, provide information, evoke heightened feelings, induce a meditative state, arouse a sense of enjoyment and reconnect you to innate Devine intelligence, resourcefulness, wisdom and healing.
By its very nature art utilises both light and information. Light, since the various colours are part of the light spectrum, information via theme and intention. “Healing and transformation occur by way of an information exchange—‘light and information’, to be precise” and it’s “our birthright to be in direct communion with God/Love/Universe; and therefore, to be self-sustaining, self-healing beings”(Dr. Pearl). In my view healing is an innate ability every living being is blessed with and as a healer one simply helps to reconnect with an inner resourcefulness, and the capacity and gift of healing.
In physics according to string theory the shape and content of the whole universe, of every single atom and particle, the cells in our bodies, the light and sound waves that echo through the cosmos, are determined by vibrational frequencies, vibrating strings at the heart of everything. At that level energy and matter are one and our vibrational bodies communicate with and influence each other through resonance and entrainment and all is like music, like part of a symphony.
Mindful of the surprising evidence by scientists Gary Schwartz and Linda Russek that every idea and awareness remains in the memory of the universe, each theme, every painting like “Which Bright Future Will You Choose?” is a meditation on a beautiful life unfolding and blossoming as intended, connecting the past, the known with a brilliant future in a visual vibrational experience now. Words and pictures are powerful creative forces and what is possible becomes more probable through focus and awareness.
Pointillist painter George Seurat pioneered and mastered organizing, connecting colored dots in his creation of beautiful images. Maybe we can connect the dots in a most beautiful way to bring together our visible and invisible, tangible and intangible, mundane and spiritual worlds, art, spirituality, healing.
My artwork unfolds slowly. Similarly to slow cooked food, it develops its richness and subtle flavours with the time it takes to create it, the time and focus spent in meditation on a theme, spiritual intention, focus, chosen feelings of a particular piece of art, the vibration inherent in it. “Established in Being, perform action.” - Bhagavad Gita. Energy flows where attention goes and what you seek, is seeking you.
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
My paintings are created to provide beautiful art for your space with the intent to connect and reconnect the dots between physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wholeness, your innate wonder and beauty, ease, peace and wellbeing in your life and world. May my art serve your highest good.
